Is the version with the banner of Minas Tirith actually worth the 50 extra points, bearing in mind I'm probably only going to play games of around 700 points? Seems like I could get a lot more models for that.
Thanks Dikey, in accordance with what you said, I have managed to get myself a Boromir captain of the white tower on foot with armour and a shield only, but I have a few questions. Is a force that really depends on the likes of Boromir, Captain of the white tower and Faramir to kill. They have access to spear, which makes them cheap and effective second line fighters, shooting behind the front line and supporting with F4.ĭamrod, Berengod (just convert one, no one will blame you for that) and Denethor will allow to spam more units. Those models work as Ranger of Gondor, of Arnor and Blackroot Vale Archers.Īnd on that point, Rangers are a must in a Gondor force. Re: I need your help in creating some 500-700 point armies!Īctually, they were "born" as Rangers of Gondor. Just looked at beregond on ebay! Very expensive! £££ I'm probably going to get them directly from GW though as they are for some reason more expensive on ebay! Regarding your advice about the sourcebooks and the DCHL, would I be asking to buy the actual books from them, or are there *other* (ahem) methods of obtaining the rules?Īlso, would it be worth getting knights of minas tirith, or just allying in rohan as cavalry? I just ordered denethor on ebay as per your advice, and am going to look into getting more cheap characters for Gondor. The citadel guards, specifically with bows can also be pretty good. The warriors of Gondor go nicely with the rangers but you could also try picking up Osgiliath veterans and Guards of the Fountain Court, the guards specifically can build up a pretty nasty force if you want something a little more elite heavy. To do the Grey company list you need rangers of the north/dunedain 1 for every 4 rangers of arnor you're planning to run, that list has some weird requirements for army building.įor Gondor you have most of it, and could do a perfectly fine army with what you have but you probably should look for Damrod, Beregond and Madril and or Denethor who are all really good cheap ways to boost your numbers, although Beregond, specifically is quite costly $$$ wise. I think you have the best start of a Gondor army but its always best to collect and play something you like the look and feel of best! I think there's a way to build almost every list pretty competitively, if that's what you like doing, and if you practice enough you should be able to at least give yourself a shot at most games with most armies!Ī couple things I would pick up though for the armies you mentioned would be Erkenbrand for Rohan, as well as a couple Outriders, Sons of eorl, and maaybe 1-2 royalguard. Something I found very helpful with since so many books are OOP, which makes it very hard to play.Īrmy building though, I would pick your favorite faction and go from there. If you're having trouble getting a hold of source books try getting in touch with the DCHL guys, you can google them and email them through their website. Pretty please? Any suggestions as to what I should buy next are also welcome! I had a small Isengard force and the Fellowship before I left, but I now own a lot more.
I now want to get back into it and become much more involved! This means I haven't played in a looooong time, however I was able to keep expanding my collection with the help of ebay and job lots from various individuals. I have missed this hobby immensely, but tried to distance myself from any distractions so that my studies would go well.
Hello to all of you lovely people! I'm back from my adventures (uni) and now have unrestricted access to my hordes of little plastic and metal men once more! The One Ring :: View topic - Returning to the SBG.
